The unit of navigation is the inquiry
“The unit of navigation is not the page. The unit of navigation is the inquiry.”

Observation about the Ask WAMA experience. The answer follows the user's thread; the UI below the answer changes the subject. The discontinuity is felt immediately because the rest of the day has been about continuity — in movement, conversation, attention, awareness, social interaction. The system is violating one of its own core principles. Reframe: Resources are not 'guide-centric', they are entity-centric. The system thinks in entities (topic, practice, guide, lens). The user thinks in inquiries ("why do I keep repeating this pattern?", "why can't I sleep?", "why do I feel disconnected?"). Inquiry is primary; everything else should organise around it. Implications if this holds: - Related resources become inquiry continuations. - Breadcrumbs become inquiry trails (Question -> Attention -> Observation -> Ground), not site paths. - Practices become inquiry responses. - Topics become inquiry contexts. - Guides become inquiry perspectives. Status: Watch. Not promoted to architecture tonight. Preserved as the sentence to test against future Ask WAMA work: does this change keep the thread intact, or does it change the subject?
Field Notes are observations, not scientific evidence. The original wording is preserved; later insights are appended below rather than edited into the body above.
